Growing up as an Army Brat who completed 10 moves around the world before the age of 15, Alex Jayjock is no stranger to change, flexibility, and resiliency. She uses lessons learned from these experiences, along with a passion for competition and a love for the built environment, to craft unique strategies that help design and construction firms achieve their marketing and business development goals.

Throughout her 15+ year career in the AEC industry, Alex has advised clients that range from startups to international powerhouses on strategic plans, project pursuits, defining value propositions, developing business development processes, and more. Whether helping a firm break into a new geographic market or coaching a ‘must win’ interview, Alex thrives on challenging firms to develop client-driven messaging that answers the simple question of ‘so what?’.

In 2018, Alex founded Dragonfly AEC Consulting, driven by a belief that the role of the AEC marketing and BD professional has changed. Alex and the Dragonfly team work toward a vision of being the premier resource for marketing and BD leadership in the design and construction industry.

Dedicated to a ‘work hard, play hard’ mantra, Alex loves spending time with her two kids, golfing, hiking, enjoying an afternoon at a brewery, or a lazy Sunday morning spent at the lake.

Marketing Strategist

Whether she’s playing a game of strategy with friends or pursuing a new market for a client, Kayla loves helping her team win.

With her unique mix of skills and perspectives, Kayla gives architecture, engineering, and construction firms the tools to expand their influence and grow their revenue. In addition to her experience with AEC firms, Kayla has a background in theater and worked in corporate marketing, giving her an appreciation of both the art and analytics behind effective marketing strategies. Energetic and inquisitive, she challenges herself to continually learn and improve in work and life, whether through asking powerful questions or experiencing different cultures. What’s more, Kayla is both a certified rescue diver and an aspiring pilot—fitting metaphors for her ability to plunge into the details of a challenge while maintaining a high-level perspective.

Kayla holds a master’s degree in marketing-communications and is a Certified Professional Services Marketer, a marketing certification focused on the AEC industry. Outside of Dragonfly AEC Consulting, she enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs… and playing the occasional game of strategy.

Laura

With an inherent nature to challenge the status quo, Laura’s career in the AEC industry never followed the well-trodden path. Instead, she excelled in tackling complex challenges and crafting unique strategies to drive change and results for regional, national, and international companies.

In various Director of Marketing and Communications roles, Laura led teams of all shapes and sizes to develop and implement strategies that begin with internal culture and result in firms promoting their authentic brands. She believes strongly that when it comes to marketing, firms should ‘spray it, not say it’—that actions speak louder than words and messaging is only effective when truly lived at all levels of the firm.

Laura is an industry-recognized leader whose accomplishments include almost a dozen Marketing Communications Awards for social media campaigns, special events, websites, and branding. In 2022, she was awarded the Ginny Solomon Golden Tuba Award by SMPS DC, the chapter’s highest honor for leadership, creativity, and marketing excellence. Laura was elevated to Fellow of SMPS in 2023. When she isn’t racking up awards, Laura spends her time hanging with her architect husband, crushing her opponents in volleyball, and playing golf (often with Alex).
